Airport Recognized in Two Categories by International Research Firm Skytrax
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport has been recognized with honors in two award categories in the recent 2023 World Airport Awards conducted by international air transport research firm Skytrax. BWI Marshall was ranked the 10th-best for both the Best Regional Airports in North America and the World’s Most Improved Airports categories.
“These important industry recognitions underscore our commitment to provide an outstanding travel experience for residents, businesses and visitors,” said Ricky Smith, Executive Director/CEO of BWI Marshall Airport. “Along with our airport partners and stakeholders, we appreciate these honors that recognize the work on behalf of our valued customers.”
This year’s World Airport Awards were announced earlier this month. Launched in 1999 by Skytrax, the prestigious annual award program is recognized as a benchmark for the global airport industry, analyzing customer service and facilities across more than 500 airports. Skytrax describes the World Airport Awards initiative as the largest annual international airport customer satisfaction survey.
“The annual World Airport Awards program is an excellent approach to measure how an airport is serving its passengers,” said Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul J. Wiedefeld. “These honors show that our entire team at BWI Marshall Airport continues to offer outstanding service, convenience and value for local and global travelers.”
According to Skytrax, the Most Improved Airport award identifies and reflects quality improvement for airports across the entire World Airport Awards program. The honor recognizes airports with performance improvements across multiple award categories over the past year. The World’s Best Regional Airports award examines airports that serve domestic and a number of international routes.
