October 30, 2025 – BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport to Conduct Full-Scale Emergency Preparedness Exercise on Saturday

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall) will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise on Saturday, November 1, beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m. This exercise is part of the airport’s ongoing commitment to safety, preparedness, and compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements. The drill will allow BWI Marshall and other agencies to prepare for an actual emergency at the airport.

The exercise will involve a simulated emergency scenario and the coordinated response of multiple agencies, including the airport’s fire and rescue department, law enforcement, airport operations, and mutual aid partners from the surrounding region. The drill will not impact regular airline or airport operations.

Important Note for the Public:

The Saturday emergency exercise is only a drill. Members of the public and airport neighbors may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles, personnel in protective gear, and simulated smoke or activity in designated areas of the airport. These activities are part of the exercise and do not represent a real emergency.
