A/B Connector and Baggage Handling System Upgrade
The largest capital project in the history of BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport is now accessible to passengers.
The A/B Connector and Baggage Handling System is a large, multi-year project to improve the passenger experience and provide updated facilities for Southwest Airlines, including a state-of-the-art baggage handling system. The $520 million program will improve the passenger experience and provide added capacity for Southwest Airlines to continue its growth.
The project adds a direct connection between concourses, expanded airline holdrooms, new food and retail concession spaces, enhanced restrooms, and a new, fully in-line baggage handling system for the airline.
This project solidifies BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport as a major economic engine for Maryland and the National Capital Region.
The video below shows 3 years of exterior work with the footage starting in January 2022.
