Alaska Airlines announced today that it would begin new transcontinental service between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and Portland International Airport. The new seasonal service is scheduled to start on June 6.
“2017 is off to a fast start, and we look forward to this added service from Alaska Airlines,” said Ricky Smith, Chief Executive Officer for BWI Marshall Airport. “Customers from across the Washington-Baltimore region will benefit from these new flights to Portland. Alaska Airlines is a good fit for BWI Marshall Airport, as we both emphasize customer service and convenience.”
Portland, Oregon will be the second new Alaska Airlines market for BWI Marshall in 2017. In March, the carrier is scheduled to begin service between BWI Marshall and San Diego. Alaska Airlines first started service at BWI Marshall Airport in September 2014 with daily nonstop service to the airline’s hub in Seattle. Alaska added service between BWI Marshall and Los Angeles in September 2015. The airline offers flights to markets throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
BWI Marshall continues to set records for passenger traffic, with new airlines and flights to new markets. The airport has posted strong growth, with 16-straight monthly passenger records through October 2016.
