BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Again Ranked Among Best North American Airports for Passenger Satisfaction

J.D. Power and Associates Annual Study Puts BWI Marshall at Number 4
BWI AIRPORT, MD (May 20, 2008) - Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport ranked fourth-highest in overall passenger satisfaction among medium-size airports, according to the 2008 North America Airport Satisfaction Study released today by J.D. Power and Associates.

The annual J.D. Power and Associates study, now in its eighth year, evaluates overall airport satisfaction based on six specific performance factors—airport accessibility, baggage claim, check-in / baggage check process, terminal facilities, security check, and food and retail services.

“At BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, we are committed to providing excellent customer service,” said Governor Martin O’Malley. “The results of this study, and other indicators, demonstrate that we are delivering on that commitment and that BWI Marshall is one of the leading airports in the United States.”

In the study, BWI was positioned in the medium airport segment, which included airports serving 10 million to 30 million passengers annually. BWI received an overall airport satisfaction index score of 686, well above the average satisfaction score of 675. The 2008 North America Airport Satisfaction Study is based on responses from more than 21,165 passengers who took a round-trip flight between April 2007 and March 2008.

Timothy L. Campbell, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Maryland Aviation Administration, said, “This study acknowledges the hard work and outstanding customer service provided by the Airport staff, our airline partners, the TSA security personnel, and our concessions developer.”
