BWI Ranked Among Best North American Airports for Passenger Satisfaction

J.D. Power and Associates and AVIATION WEEK study ranks BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Third
BWI AIRPORT, MD (June 30, 2006) - Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) ranked third-highest in overall passenger satisfaction among medium-size airports, according to the 2006 North America Airport Satisfaction Study released yesterday by J.D. Power and Associates.

The study, conducted in association with AVIATION WEEK, measures overall airport satisfaction based on eight specific performance factors—airport accessibility, check-in / baggage check, security check, terminal facilities, food and beverage, retail services, baggage claim, and immigration / customs control.

In the study, BWI was positioned in the medium airport segment, which included airports serving 10 million to 30 million passengers annually. BWI received an overall airport satisfaction index score of 706, based on a 1,000 point scale. This score was well above the medium airport segment average of 685. BWI ranked “among the best” medium North American airports in the performance measures for airport accessibility and terminal facilities.

The 2006 North America Airport Satisfaction Study is based on responses from more than 9,800 passengers who took a flight between January and May of 2006. Further information regarding the report is available from J.D. Power at http://www.jdpower.com.

“This notable and prestigious report affirms our efforts to provide a pleasant and efficient travel experience for our customers,” said Timothy L. Campbell, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Maryland Aviation Administration. “The Airport staff and our partners with the airlines, the TSA, and our concessions developer work very hard to ensure outstanding customer service. BWI is honored to be recognized in this study.”

The J.D. Power study is the third significant recognition for BWI this year. Airport Revenue News honored BWI with the 2006 award for Airport with the Best Concession Program, and Air Cargo World ranked BWI second overall in the annual Air Cargo Excellence Survey.
