U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood recently appointed Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Chief Executive Officer Paul J. Wiedefeld to the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Oversight Committee. The ACRP was established by Congress to produce research to improve the planning, design, and operation of airports in the United States.
“The ACRP is an important source of information and technical support for airport operators,” said Paul Wiedefeld, BWI Marshall CEO. “I look forward to working with my industry colleagues to research and highlight best practices that will help improve airports throughout the country.”
The ACRP is managed by the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies. The goal of the ACRP is to address any issues faced by airport operators. The ACRP Oversight Committee is responsible for selecting airport research projects. Projects focus on diverse areas of airport management, including: safety, security, operations, environment, planning, design, construction, maintenance, and administration.
Mr. Wiedefeld was appointed to a three-year term as a member of the ACRP Oversight Committee.
