BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Wins Concessions Award

2nd Place Award for Best Food and Beverage Program in Annual Airport Concessions Contest


The food and beverage program at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport received a second place award yesterday in the “Best Food and Beverage Program” category at the 2010 Richard A. Griesbach Excellence in Airport Concessions Contest, sponsored by Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA). The award was presented to BWI Marshall Airport and AIRMALL USA, the developer of the Airport’s food and retail concessions program.

“We are honored to receive this important industry recognition,” said Paul J. Wiedefeld, Executive Director of BWI Marshall Airport. “BWI Marshall Airport is committed to providing outstanding customer service and a quality food and shopping program for our passengers.”

The award was announced yesterday afternoon during the 2010 ACI-NA Airport Concessions Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. According to ACI-NA, the purpose of the annual contest is to inspire creativity in the industry and to recognize innovative and outstanding airport concessions. The BWI Marshall Airport food and retail program has won a number of industry awards in recent years.

BWI Marshall Executive Director Wiedefeld added, “I want to acknowledge and thank the good work provided by our AIRMALL concessions developer, along with the individual food and beverage operators at BWI Marshall Airport.”
