Tour operator Vacation Express has resumed its seasonal service between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and Grand Bahama Island. The service, operated by Sunwing Airlines, is scheduled to continue through the peak summer season until October 24. Vacation Express first offered packages from BWI Marshall to Grand Bahama Island in 2014.
“We welcome the return of Vacation Express and the service to Grand Bahama Island, a charming leisure destination that offers culture and miles of pristine beaches,” said Paul J. Wiedefeld, Chief Executive Officer for BWI Airport. “With the start of the peak summer travel season, this is a convenient tropical vacation option for our travelers.”
Vacation Express will offer BWI Marshall service to Punta Cana starting on June 30, also operated by Sunwing Airlines. The vacation packages to Punta Cana will be offered seasonally until October 26.
“Vacation Express is excited to return to Baltimore after such a successful season last year,” said Kevin Hernandez, Vice President of Sales and Digital Strategy. “It’s because of that success we decided to add flights to Punta Cana from Balitmore in addition to the Grand Bahama Island program.”
Airlines continue to add new domestic and international service at BWI Marshall Airport. Total passenger traffic at BWI Marshall increased 3.1 percent in the first quarter of 2015. International passenger traffic rose 22.2 percent in the first quarter.
