Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall) has created a partnership with WTMD Radio to highlight local musicians from throughout the Baltimore and Washington, DC region. On the last Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m., BWI Marshall and WTMD will feature live music from a local band. The live performances will be held on the lower level of the Airport terminal, near baggage claim 5.
The first concert in this series, scheduled for this evening, will feature The Herd of Main Street. From the Baltimore area, The Herd of Main Street creates a rich texture of American blues, country, and rock.
“An important part of our emphasis on customer service is to create positive, memorable travel experiences,” said Paul J. Wiedefeld, Chief Executive Officer of BWI Marshall Airport. “This series will highlight the creative musical talent of our region. As the gateway to Maryland and the National Capital region, BWI Marshall is a great location to feature local music.”
BWI Marshall is also working with WTMD to share music from local artists in several portions of the Airport terminal. The partnership is presenting recorded music in the terminal to area residents and travelers from around the globe.
WTMD is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Towson University. The radio station serves the Baltimore metropolitan area and central Maryland.
The schedule of performances through mid-2015 is as follows:
