Condor Airlines announced today that it would add a third weekly flight next summer between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and Frankfurt, Germany. In July 2012, the German airline launched seasonal, twice weekly service between the two markets on Mondays and Thursdays. The airline is adding Saturday flights to its seasonal schedule.
“The additional service from Condor highlights our growing international travel market,” said Paul J. Wiedefeld, Chief Executive Officer for BWI Marshall Airport. “Frankfurt is a key international gateway. We remain focused on expanding our global travel and trade opportunities.”
Condor offers service to over 70 international destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. The service will utilize a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 259 seats and offering three classes of service—Business, Premium Economy and Economy. The airline offers in-seat entertainment in all classes and fully-automatic, comfortable reclining seats in Condor Business Class.
Frankfurt is an important international destination and a key European hub market. The city is a leading international center for finance, commerce, transportation, and tourism. Frankfurt Airport ranks among the world’s busiest, offering airline connections throughout Europe and the globe. The airport also provides outstanding rail and roadway connections.
International passenger traffic has grown steadily in recent years at BWI Marshall. Construction work on the BWI Marshall D/E Connector program will begin in coming months. This multi-phase development will support additional international service. The D/E Connector program will: construct a new secure connector between Concourse D and Concourse E, create a new security checkpoint to serve domestic and international travelers and configure airline gates to support additional international flights.
