Southwest Airlines today announced a flight schedule update through early 2015 that includes a number of international and domestic flight additions for Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall). Southwest is the largest airline that serves BWI Marshall.
Starting October 13, Southwest will add three daily roundtrip flights between BWI Marshall and Dallas Love Field. The service to Dallas Love Field is a new route for BWI Marshall.
On November 1, Southwest will complete its international transition at BWI Marshall as the airline shifts Punta Cana flights from AirTran Airways to Southwest service. Southwest previously announced that it will make its first move to the international market on July 1 when flights between BWI Marshall and Aruba, Montego Bay, and Nassau move to Southwest. The airline will assume international service to Cancun on August 10.
The updated flight schedule announced today by Southwest also increases the number of flights between BWI Marshall and several international markets. For November 2014, when compared with last year, Southwest will add: two weekly roundtrip flights to Aruba (from 5 to 7 weekly), three weekly roundtrip flights to Cancun (from 11 to 14), four weekly roundtrip flights to Montego Bay (from 10 to 14), and three weekly roundtrip flights to Punta Cana (from 5 to 8).
“We welcome the additional international and domestic flights from Southwest Airlines,” said Paul J. Wiedefeld, Chief Executive Officer of BWI Marshall. “The new service means more passengers can experience the convenience and customer service offered by Southwest and BWI Marshall.”
